Żminijietna expressed solidarity with the Libyan people.

Żminijietna - Voice of the Left expressed solidarity with the progressive and democratic forces in those countries undergoing major upheaval, including Libya, Iraq, Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrein, Algeria, and others.

Żminijietna joined forces with Alternattiva Demokratika – The Green Party, Moviment Graffiti and the Libyan residents in Malta in their criticism against the brutality and killing being inflicted by Gaddafi forces on ordinary citizens.

"The full lifting of the Libya arms trade embargo by the United States and Europe in 2004, led to many countries, particularly from the west to take advantage of this decision by selling worth tens of million euros of armaments to Libyan Leader Muammar Gaddafi. These same weapons are today being used to further spread violence and killing across the country. Those countries that benefited from the arms deal with Libya are also to blame for todays' killing in Libya."

Żminijietna concluded by criticizing various European governments who want to abdicate from their 'responsibility sharing’, in case of a large exodus of people from these countries. The left wing organisation expressed full support for an intervention by the United Nations to reduce violence and killing in the region. Although we aknowledge that UN has no real power in case of emergency.

Żminijietna tesprimi solidarjeta mall-poplu Libjan.

Żminijietna - Leħen ix-Xellug esprimiet is-solidarjetà tagħha mal-forzi progressivi u demokratiċi f'dawk il-pajjiżi għarab li għaddejjin minn taqlib kbir, inkluż il-Libja, l-Iraq, it-Tuneżija, l-Eġittu, Bahrein, l-Alġerija, u oħrajn.

Żminijietna ingħaqdet ma' l-Alternattiva Demokratika - The Green Party, il-Moviment Graffitti u r-residenti Libjani f'Malta fil-kritika tagħhom kontra l-brutalità u qtil impost mill-forzi ta' Gaddafi fuq iċ-ċittadini ordinarji.

"It-tneħħija sħiħa ta' l-embargo fuq il-bejgħ tal-armi lejn il-Libja mill-Istati Uniti u l-Unjoni Ewropeja fl-2004, wasslet għal bosta pajjiżi, partikolarment mill-punent sabiex jieħdu vantaġġ ta ' din id-deċiżjoni u jibbenefikaw mill-bejgħ tal-armamenti, f'valur ta' għexieren ta' miljuni ta' euro, lill-mexxej Libjan Muammar Gaddafi. Dawn l-istess armi llum qed jintużaw biex ixerrdu aktar vjolenza u qtil madwar il-pajjiż. Aħna tal-fehma li dawk il-pajjiżi li bbenefikaw mill-kummerċ ta' l-armi mall-Libja jaħtu wkoll għal dan il-vjolenza kollha u qtil."

Żminijietna konkludiet billi kritikat dawk il-Gvernijiet Ewropej li jridu jabdikaw minn "responsability sharing", f'każ ta' eżilju kbir ta' nies minn dawn il-pajjiżi. L-għaqda Xellugija kkonkludiet billi esprimiet l-appoġġ tagħha sabiex in-Nazzjonijiet Uniti tintervjeni sabiex titnaqqas il-vjolenza fil-pajjiż li qed twassal għal aktar imwiet. Għalkemm nifhmu li UN ma għandhiex daqshekk poteri f'każ ta' emerġenza.
